How to use Bug Bite Balm
Always patch test any product that you are applying to your skin, first, to ensure you are not hyper-sensitive to any ingredients contained in it. Use the bug bite balm to keep away nasty, bity insects by applying a small amount to various places on your body, such as behind the ears, elbows, wrists, knees, ankles, etc. Apply every couple of hours for most effective results. Keep away from your eyes.
If you have been bitten then apply the balm to the bite and do so as often as it feels irritated.
The essential oils in this balm have been chosen for their effectiveness in repelling a variety of insects. Rosemary, when measured against 11 other essential oils, had the longest repellent effect against mosquitos. Studies also show cedarwood effective in repelling ticks and mosquitos as well as have anti-bacterial properties to help with acne etc. Bentonite clay has been used in the balm for its soothing, detoxifying effects on the skin. It has been shown to be effective in treating rashes caused by insects and plants. All of the ingredients are in a base of calendula infused in olive oil. Calendula is a marvelously gentle and soothing herb suitable for any irriating skin conditions. The essential oils used vary in volatility but being in an ointment base helps them to remain on the skin for longer, as opposed to a cream or spray.
