Anti-Bacterial Herbs
In times like these, in which our body may be subject to many and varied forms of bacteria, we can make use of many herbs which we may already have in our kitchen cupboards and gardens or at least which we can easily purchase. Many such herbs may be effective in order to help our body in the fight against COVID-19.
1.) Oregano oil: Oregano oil is one of the most powerful antibacterial essential oils because it contains carvacrol and thymol, two antibacterial and antifungal compounds. In fact, research shows oregano oil is effective against many clinical strains of bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Oregano oil must be taken in a carrier oil and not used as pure essential oil as it is very, very potent. We have sourced pure, oregano oil made from wild harvested oregano, grown in its native habitat in the mountains of Turkey and have prepared it with olive oil so it is ready for you to use immediately. Remember, when taking oregano oil, try taking only 1 - 2 drops at a time when you first start and do not take for more than 14 days consecutively.
2.) Garlic: Chemical compounds in garlic, including allicin, have been proven to display antimicrobial activity and work to kill pathogens that are responsible for both common and rare infections. Garlic has been used for centuries to combat infectious diseases. Garlic’s antimicrobial properties are strongest when it’s raw. We would recommend starting with one clove of garlic a day, sliced on toast with avocado and tomato, or crushed and added to an olive oil and lemon juice dressing, poured over your fresh garden salad.
3.) Onions: a food often thrown into soups, stews and stir fries—contain powerful flavonoids that have antibiotic effects, and, like garlic, they contain therapeutic sulfur compounds called cysteine sulphoxides.
4.) Echinacea: Echinacea is a powerful immune builder that can fight infections, including those caused by bacteria. If you take echinacea as soon as symptoms develop, it can help cut the duration of illnesses that are sometimes treated with antibiotics. Research shows that taking 10 milligrams of Echinacea per one kilogram of body weight daily for a 10-day period boosts the immune system and helps combat infections.
5.) Calendula: It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and is beneficial in reducing inflammation, promoting wound healing and as an antiseptic. it can be taken as a herbal tea or applied topically for skin conditions. Try our calendula ointment for any irritating skin condition and for keeping babies bottoms free of irritation.
